The Problem With Trade-Ins

Why we hardly ever take them

One great reason to buy from a dealer is the trade-in.  You don't need to worry about selling it, and they'll take your junk ... err prized possession 🤦‍♂️ ... off your hands.

But we have a few problems that other dealers don't.

  1.  Trade sight unseen.  Customers often ask us to take their trade sight unseen with simply a VIN, mileage, year, make, and model with a few bad pictures.  Would you buy from us if that's all we gave?

  2. Low opening price.  We price for the cash sale.  Customers have an idea of what their vehicle is worth based on some artificial pricing metrics, like Kelly Blue Book.  Customers expect to buy our vehicles well below Blue Book, but want us to pay Blue Book.  It can't work that way.  But few customers are sophisticated enough to see that the deal we present -- even with their diminished trade value -- is better than they could get anywhere else.  Instead, they think we are undervaluing their trade and stomp off.  😢

  3. Transaction costs.  Shipping two cars all over the country is a lot more difficult than one.  It simply becomes too complicated and costly to make it worth while.

If, however, you can deal with the three issues above, please:

  1.  Let us know which vehicle you want from us

  2. Your trade's year, make, model, trim, drivetrain, fuel type, transmission type, VIN, mileage, disclose any issues, disclose any liens, and send pictures of the inside and out.

  3. Let us know the deal you propose.  E.g. "My 2012 Ford F350 for your 2016 Chevy Duramax plus $8000"

And as always, if you have any questions, please let us know!
